Dr John Reed - Consultant Dermatologist
Dr John Reed is a UK trained consultant dermatologist and honorary senior lecturer in Oxford since 2007. He is fully trained and on the GMC specialist register. Dr John Reed qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College in London in 1991. His NHS clinics are based in Oxford and Henley.
Dr John Reed trained in dermatology in London and Oxford. During his training, he successfully completed a PhD in Immunology at University College London resulting in several publications in leading scientific journals. Following on from his research, he has developed an interest in urticaria, angioedema and allergy in adults and children. He is a member of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
Dr John Reed offers specialist clinics in urticaria, angioedema and allergy (food, pollen, animal and dust) as well as sublingual desensitisation treatment.
His research activities include trials of new treatments for urticaria and angioedema. His interests also cover skin cancer screening, dermoscopy and skin surgery.
Dr John Reed has been the clinical lead for dermatology in Oxford since 2012. He was previously the lead for the Oxford Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team between 2009 and 2012, which won the Thames Valley Cancer Network award for clinical quality in 2011.
John is a keen cyclist, usually taking on an annual challenge such as the Etape du Tour, and committed masters swimmer, competing and volunteering for Wycombe District Swimming Club.
